Repeat Prescriptions

If the doctor decides to put your medication on the repeat prescribing system, you will be issued with a computer slip giving details of your medicines.  Please use this slip to request your repeat prescription and allow 72 hours (excluding weekends and bank holidays) before collection.  If you require your prescription to be returned, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication may be invited to see a doctor, practice nurse or healthcare assistant at least once a year to review the condition(s) for which they are prescribed repeat medications.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Due to the addition of new medications or changes to dosage or instructions, your repeat medication amounts may go out of synchronisation resulting in you having to order items are different times.

We can rectify this for you by issuing 'temporary' amounts to bring all your medications in line.  This will help reduce the number of prescription requests you make and also the number we are required to process.

If you wish to synchronise your medications, please record the individual amounts you currently have next to the item on your repeat slip.  Our prescriptions clerk may contact you for further information.

The NHS Minor Ailment service is available from pharmacies throughout Scotland and provides advice and treatment for some minor illnesses without the need for patients to attend their GP surgery for a prescription.  Further details of conditions and complaints covered are available in the attached information leaflet.
